Recurring monthly: Teen Writing Club, Maryland Writers Association, Westminster, MD (Club meets the 3rd Saturday of the month at the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library)

I am proud to facilitate this group of Carroll County teens in a monthly Teen Writing Club, where we journal, discuss writing issues, practice writing craft, and share our work. If you know a teenager interested in writing and would like more information, contact me at jean@jeanburgessauthor.com.

11/1/2023: Awards ceremony for Light of Carroll/Carroll County Public Library, Finksburg, MD

I was nominated for the Light of Carroll literacy award presented by the Carroll County Public Library. The awards recognize the work of individuals, groups, and businesses in promoting and supporting the power of literacy through acts of kindness, courage, selflessness, or education in the Carroll County community. 

 

10/14/2023: Presenting at Maryland Writers' Association Brain to Bookshelf Annual Conference, Baltimore, MD

I presented at the Maryland Writer's Association's annual conference on October 14-15, 2023. My topic was "Tips to Take Your Author Reading From Drab to Dynamic."

7/8/2023: Carroll Chapter of Maryland Writers Association, Finksburg, Maryland

I presented a talk entitled "A Road to Traditional Fiction and Nonfiction Publishing: One Author's Journey" to the members of this chapter. Participants engaged in exercises as well as heard the speaker's own successes and failures as a strategy for developing their own roadmap, should they choose traditional publishing.

 

 

3/4/2023: Eastern Shore Writers Association's Bay to Ocean Writer's Conference, Wye Mills, MD

I presented a workshop entitled "Keys to Successful Nonfiction Publishing: How I Did It and How You Can Too" at the annual conference, known for its excellence in industry workshops and networking opportunities.
